Band T-shirt Project | Featuring The Trews [Canada]

MOJOMADE BAND T-SHIRT PROJECT: THE TREWS

I am SO excited about the latest design project I've been working on! The Band T-shirt Project is mixing my love of music, fashion and art into one awesome adventure that I'll be documenting here!

So it begins like this... I was asked to design an exclusive t-shirt for Canadian rockers The Trews - for their Australian tour. These guys are like a mash-up of Powderfinger with Jimmy Barnes and Eddie Vedder on vocals, Jack White on bass and the most incredible 3 part harmonies I've heard live on stage. And they sure know how to put on a show - guess that's why they're one of Canada's hottest rock groups!

I was lucky enough to catch an intimate show at Notes in Newtown before they hit The Blues and Roots Festival over the weekend (which I also played a few sets at!) Here's a little look at The Trews and the design process for their MojoMade Band T-Shirts.

 Drafting ideas...
Up-close sketching before scanning and finishing off...
Final design. And PS it's copyrighted so please don't steal my designs!

Deshabille Pyjama Party @ The Village

A couple of weeks ago, I snuck out of the recording studio to hang with some gorgeous girls, snack on glorious food, loosen up with some Champagne and meet the incredible ladies behind the Deshabille and Pink Hope collaboration.

Deshabille (pronounced dez-a-bee-aye) is all about lounging at home in style. I for one love a little pair of shorts or singlet that - should you 'happen' to take your dog for a morning walk and grab a coffee - nobody knows that you're still in your PJs. Hehe! Designer and director Roslyn Bellerby works with artists to create their own unique prints - which blow me away! Check out the to-die-for peacock inspired set...

Anyways, Deshabille have joined forces this winter with the boutique charity Pink Hope, where 50% of all proceeds will go to the charity. Pink Hope was founded by Sydney mum Krystal Barter, and it's all about helping families who deal with breast and ovarian cancer. If you have or know anyone that's been touched by these cancer's please have a look at the wonderful organization that is Pink Hope.

50% of all proceeds from the Deshabille Pink Hope collab will go to the Pink Hope Charity.
See the entire collection here

Thank you to Portobello PR, Pink Hope and Deshabille for these gorgeous gifts!

Sharpie Anything But Paper Challenge #1

Sharpie Anything But Paper Challenge #1

The awesome peeps from Sharpie sent me a little care package full of textas and a baby canvas to create something for the Sharpie Anything But Paper Project and after a long night of colouring in, here's my final piece!
The music playing in the background is a demo song I wrote a while back, called Love Don't Suit Me.

I love to make things... You may have guessed that by now *rolls eyes* And I love to make artworks that on first glance may not make sense but a closer look will reveal a story made from some kind of magic energy. I've always been enamored by the works of Salvador Dali and the surrealism movement - after all why would you want to live in the real world when you could disappear into the surreal?!

So when I say I'm just living out my 8-year-old-self's dream... I mean it literally. I spend my days making music, dressing up and colouring in.  I don't think it gets any better than this and I feel pretty lucky!

A blank canvas means anything is possible.

Sketching out some ideas

I especially love the flick-tip "brush" Sharpies that allow you to feather your strokes out more like a paintbrush. Genius!

There's something indescribable about the feeling you get when you face your fears front on.
Most people think you've only got two choices:

Stand still like a deer in the headlights, blinded by the unknown
or
Run away.

BUT you could opt for choice number 3 - just get your shit together and charge right at your fears. Because they're just in your head. You made them up!!  I'll tell you a secret - there's no such thing as good or bad things in live. There's just things in life. It's up to you if you wanna cry about it or not. I choose or not.

So if you have some secret little thing you've always wanted to do - fucking do it! The truth is nobody else cares about what you're doing anyway they just care about themselves. So make yourself happy and in turn everyone will be happy. Don't waste your life dreaming about things that [you think] have passed you by - just take each moment for what it is, good, bad, ugly, amazing... AND CATCH YOUR DREAMS.

Oh, and NEVER let your teachers, friends, parents, associates or "people with experience" EVER tell you that you won't make it. Start listening to the people who have done what you want to do - I bet they each have a completely unique story of how they made it - and you will too.

RANT OVER.
